Watch our Joint Good Friday Service with Lynnhurst United Church of Christ! The service of Tenebrae, meaning “darkness” or “shadows,” has been practiced by the church since medieval times. It was once a service practiced only in monastic communities, but later became an important part of worship during Holy Week for many congregations. This service is not a traditional Tenebrae service, but it it incorporates liturgy and lights; music and silence; prayer and darkness, all to focus our minds and hearts on the retelling of the story of Christ’s passion.
Watch our Palm Sunday service where we mark the beginning of Holy Week. We commemorate Jesus' final entry into Jerusalem, where the crowds waved palm branches and shouted "Hosanna!"
